It was a fantastic evening and all the 2Simple Team are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback from the judges, and the teachers and school leaders that visited us at the Education Show during the week. The program is designed to allow children to bring their stories to life through the use of pictures, words, animation, sounds, action script and even augmented reality, and it has been very exciting to see all the Superstories that children have been creating so far. It was also lovely to be part of an evening that celebrates all the fantastic resources available to schools. The Education Resources Awards highlight the quality and diversity of educational products and resources, excellent educational establishments and the most dedicated members of the teaching profession and supplies industry, all working together to encouragS the ery best in education.

Now in their twelfth successful year, what makes these Awards really different is that they focus on the resources, services and people that really make a practical impact on learning and the day-to-day work of the teachers in the classroom.

Brilliant / Affinity have worked with us to run these Awards since their conception and have been responsible for attracting sponsors. In 2009, the Awards were sponsored by Berol, Findel Education, NES Arnold and Staedtler. Our supporters are the National Association of Head Teachers, The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and UK Trade & Investment.

The initial second that you are announced as a winner is pure astonishment combined with a major rush of adrenaline that you have been recognised for the design, effort and work that has been put into making your product suitable for schools over a period of months and years.

Winning the award has already generated interest in the product with negotiations on a European basis happening very quickly, one major supplier in Europe took the award as provenance for our product and negotiation were concluded in less than an hour with sales starting the following month. This was only possible because the awards are recognised throughout the world as a beacon of excellence.

The winners logo has now been placed on all our marketing, including business cards. It has been sent to all 33,00 schools, and is appearing in our European adverts in April. The awards logo is a central part of communication, showing the world that we are an award winning company with an award winning product.

Nexus was established in 1993 as a buy and build media start up originally backed by Legal&General. The company was involved in all aspects of the business media - magazines; directories; exhibitions; conferences and in recent years digital services. However, it gained its greatest reputation from the development of more than twenty highly acclaimed Awards Evenings in areas as diverse as Office Products; Commercial Horticulture; Education; International Trade and Manufacturing.

The award is recognition for the hard work and determination which has been needed to beat the odds and make a success of a school merger. It is a remarkable achievement to achieve 95% 5 A*-C grades in any school, to do it in a newly merged school in an area of high deprivation is incredible but now we have to believe it because someone else noticed what we have achieved.

We are grateful to BESA and the judges for their recognition and expect that this will help the school to move forward with confidence to provide an even better experience for students in the future.

Our award logo is now on our headed notepaper and we have just used the quotes made about the school from the awards ceremony in a recruitment advertisement. The local press are running a story about our success this week.
